Alec Baldwin, wife Hilaria and their seven kids open their lives for new TLC reality show The Baldwins
“Seven children, six animals, two parents. Wild family.”
That’s the tagline for The Baldwins, TLC’s highly anticipated new reality show taking viewers inside the life of Alec Baldwin, wife Hilaria, and their rambunctious brood of kids, ranging in age from 11 to two (the former 30 Rock star is also father of 29-year-old daughter Ireland, from his first marriage to Kim Basinger).
The series “blends the highs and lows of family life, with the challenges and humour that come while raising a large family in the public eye,” notes TLC’s official synopsis of the show.
“Throughout the season, The Baldwins will feature hilarious moments around the dinner table to candid discussions about mental health and their ever-evolving parenting style,” that synopsis adds. “The series shows what life is really like for the Baldwins — chaotic, funny, exhausting and filled with love. Alec and Hilaria’s dynamic as a couple will also take centre stage, with moments that showcase their deep partnership as they navigate challenges hand in hand. With seven children in tow, the Baldwin household is never short on activity, but through it all, Alec and Hilaria embrace the madness with an infectious energy, showing viewers the beauty of raising a family that’s anything but ordinary.”
During the first episode, audiences join the Baldwins as they celebrate the ninth birthday of Alec and Hilaria’s oldest son, Rafael. The group heads to East Hampton — an annual summertime tradition — “[but] in the midst of celebration is uncertainty,” describes TLC, “as Alec faces trial. Alec and Hilaria navigate the emotional complexities of the moment, all while keeping their children’s lives as stable as possible.”
The possibility of going to trial for the accidental death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust will be a through-line of the series’ first season (manslaughter charges against Baldwin were dropped in June 2024). “A son lost his mom in the most unthinkable tragedy. This is never something to forget, and we’re trying to parent through it,” Hilaria says in the series’ debut episode, which also features her husband’s emotional response to what he’d been going through. “Honestly, from the bottom of my soul, I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you and these kids,” he tells her.
“This series gives viewers a glimpse into our lives as a family – the good, bad, wild, and everything in between,” the couple said in a statement. “We hope viewers will connect with our experiences and the love we share. Filming the show has been an amazing journey, and we’re proud to have TLC as a partner in telling our story.”
