Summer House

The drama heats up as the roomies return for a ninth season of reality hit Summer House

Premiering with a supersized episode, the ninth season of Summer House begins this week.

“Returning this summer unsure of where everyone stands, these housemates find themselves bonding over a growing womb-mate and determined to get back to the carefree group that loves to send it,” describes a Bravo press release. With Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula, Paige DeSorbo, Carl Radke, Ciara Miller, West Wilson, Jesse Solomon, Gabby Prescod and Lindsay Hubbard all returning, fans of the reality show can expect the drama to heat up.

This season, relationships are tested and new bonds are formed between the bunch, as dynamics shift among ever-changing friends. While Cooke’s DJ career takes off, Batula shifts focus to her own career as she crafts her first swimwear brand. DeSorbo makes waves by joining Batula in the fashion world, designing a pyjama line while she preps for an upcoming tour, and Radke shares career expertise and stressors of his own as he puts his energy towards opening a bar and cafe. Meanwhile, Hubbard’s pregnancy (she hasn’t yet shared the identity of the father) is also a major part of the new season.

It’s not all work and no play, however, as some friends enter the house single and ready to mingle. While season eight proved tumultuous for Miller, she now returns determined to leave her ex in the past and have a good, fun summer among friends and singles alike — something easier said than done, as West (Ciara’s ex) will be spending his summer right down the hall. West hopes to lean on his best friend for support, but when sparks fly between Solomon and Miller, tensions reach an all-new high.

With all those exes living together under one roof, should viewers expect fireworks? Not necessarily, said Radke in a recent interview with the Two Jersey Js podcast.

“I was friends with Lindsay for many years before we got together,” he said. “So, we had a foundation of friendship from 2016. I met Lindsay and we were very close as friends and continued to be very close friends. Then, obviously, we started dating. So, I had a lot of time and I still care about her and wish the best for her.”

Speaking with E! News, DeSorbo offered her own insight into what it was like to live with the exes. “I think because they were friends for so long, it’s not as hard as I think people thought it was going to be for them to co-exist,” she said. “Obviously there’s been a few things, we’ve definitely had some drama in the house. It wouldn’t be us if we didn’t, but it’s been pretty chill.”

While old rivalries bubble to the surface, the OG Summer House crew will also be joined by rookies Imrul Hassan and Lexi Wood. Called a “full-time party boy” by Bravo, Hassan brings a rowdy spirit and a constant string of one-night stands, fuelling the fire with a little extra chaos. Meanwhile, self-proclaimed “lover girl” Wood has packed her suitcase full of high expectations and immediately clicks with one of the boys, making for a wow-worthy love triangle.

The season premiere of Summer House airs Wednesday, February 12, on Bravo
