Master Chief Jason Hayes and the stalwart SEALS of Bravo Team return for one last deployment, as the hit action drama wraps after seven seasons
A world at war needs saving yet again, and the only ones for the job are the most elite unit of the Navy SEALs. The long-running military drama SEAL Team concludes its run in a 10-episode final season, airing exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming service this Sunday. (The first two episodes drop on premiere day, with new ones following weekly till the finale on October 6.)
The upcoming seventh season sees Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) lead Bravo Team on one last, harrowing mission to defend the United States against enemies abroad.
In an official trailer for the new season, with blood literally on his hands, Jason ruminates on the violence he’s both endured and inflicted as a member of the highly trained squad and toasts “a new era of warfare.” He stands strong for his unit but must admit that the multiple voices questioning how he can keep going back into the fire again and again aren’t wrong, especially as a widower with two children.
Also returning is Neil Brown, Jr. as Chief Warrant Officer Ray Perry, whose looming retirement has him questioning whether leaving service behind completely could really be an option. The team’s stalwart “door kicker” Special Warfare Operator First Class Sonny Quinn (A.J. Buckley) faces increased responsibility thanks to Jason and Ray’s shifting priorities, while intelligence officer Lt. Lisa Davis (Toni Trucks) pushes Bravo in a new direction that they may not all be ready to embrace.
“Operations like this are the next era of warfare . . . invisible tactics with global consequences,” Davis explains in the trailer, before ominously emphasizing: “Evolve or fall behind.”
Season six cast addition Raffi Barsoumian (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) is back as Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator Omar Hamza, who looks to immerse himself in the work to escape the trauma of his past. Two new members join the unit for the series’ final season. Beau Knapp (Road House) is Drew Franklin, a chief special warfare officer; and Blue Bloods actor Dylan Walsh puts aside his NYC mayoral duties to slip into character as Capt. Walch.
The cast and crew of SEAL Team started saying their goodbyes to Bravo when it was officially announced by Paramount+ that the series would end with its seventh season back in November of last year.
Boreanaz, also an executive producer, reflected on his time making the show in a statement: “For six seasons, I have been fortunate and blessed to be a part of an outstanding cast and crew. Every day spent was a note of thanks to our men and women in the military and Special Ops.”
He went on to thank the fans and ended his thoughts on a hopeful note, saying, “I look forward to [season seven] and the opportunity to end this series with love and gratitude.”
The sentiment was echoed by Paramount Streaming’s executive vice-president of content and business operations, Jeff Grossman, who said: “From its four seasons on the CBS Network to its three-season run here at Paramount+, SEAL Team has built an incredible legacy that celebrates and honours the brave men and women who serve in the Armed Forces.”
