Farmer Wants a Wife

Kimberly Williams-Paisley is the new host of Fox’s reality dating show with a rural twist

With more twists, turns and relationship tumbles, the country-lovin’ Fox series Farmer Wants a Wife returns with its third season.

To say the show has been successful in creating couples is an understatement; according to the network, Farmer Wants a Wife has resulted in 226 marriages and 565 children (with four more on the way).

Now, four brand-new, handsome farmers — Matt Warren, Jay Woods, John Sansone and Colton Hendricks — are eager to take a shot at finding love, each meeting singles that are ready to leave behind their city lives to embrace the fresh air, open fields and strong-armed farmers that rural living has to offer.

“These farmers are the cream of the crop,” declares Fox’s press release for the new season. “Farmer Matt is the California heartthrob who uprooted his life in Austin to help save his brother and sister-in-law’s avocado farm — he’s our fairytale Prince Charming! Family, faith and football — that’s Farmer Jay, the hometown hero who lost his football career to injury and put everything he had into rebuilding the legacy of his grandfather’s farm in Alabama. Farmer John is an urban cowboy — a high-flying St. Louis law student who dreams of living in the tradition of his family’s farm in rural Missouri with his sweetheart by his side, if he can find her, of course! Our cheeky charmer with a witty sense of humour is Farmer Colton — a third-generation Arkansas cattle rancher, recently divorced and a single dad to his two-year-old son who is looking for a second chance at love.”

Throughout this relationship rodeo, the farmers and their potential partners will travel through Alabama, Tennessee and Texas, taking part in speed dating events, camping mixers and lavish balls as they get to know their city-slicking counterparts through a “countrified” lens. Near the end of the season, the remaining women will also be invited to bring their families back to the farmer’s homesteads, where the bunch will experience rural living and immerse themselves in the realities of farm life.

The biggest change viewers will see this season is new host Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who first charmed her way into viewers’ hearts as Steve Martin’s daughter in 1991’s Father of the Bride. And while she’s built up an impressive acting résumé (becoming the wife of country music superstar Brad Paisley along the way), she’s a newbie to the world of reality television.

“I enjoyed being myself in this show, which was a new experience for me with my first unscripted series,” Williams-Paisley said in a statement. “Because I’m a city girl who embraced the country life when I married my husband 21 years ago, I related to the allure of a farmer for these ladies. I really appreciate how dedicated this show and its producers are in helping these hopeful farmers and women find love.”

Farmer Wants a Wife premieres on CHEK & Fox on Thursday, March 20
